Before Project Runway and Top Chef I couldn't have named a single show on Bravo. Top Chef Season 5 promises to be a one of the best yet as it takes place in one of the elite culinary meccas of the world- New York. To celebrate the season premiere, I'm attempting a new recipe and dining with friends.
Chicken with Herbed Goat Cheese
6 Chicken Breasts (skin on...not sure how i feel about this yet)
12 ounces of Montrachet goat cheese (with garlic and herbs)
Fresh basil leaves
olive oil
salt
pepper
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Place the chicken on a baking sheet. Loosen the skin from the meat with you fingers, leaving one side attached (not to be girlie, but ick).
Cut 12 thick slices of the goat cheese and place 2 slices plus a large basil leaf under the skin of each chicken breast.
Rub each piece with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Bake the breasts for 35-40 minutes, until just cooked through.
Last weekend I took a road trip to LA with two of my favorite guys from college, Rick and Scotty V. The purpose was to meet my incredibly beautiful and talented friend, Shannon at The Viper Room where her band was performing for a label showcase. The show brought me to tears- i'm so proud of you, Shan. She closed out their set with this song, "Rewind".
After the show, we celebrated with about 20 of our closest friends in West Hollywood. Glad i took pictures because the night took some interesting turns.
The weekend was a doozy...very action packed with all the NFL Playoff games (that is a post in and of itself), a visit from my good friend, Rick, Lionel returning from a grueling 6 day trip all over the place interviewing for residency, and more. Fortunately, the weekend was topped with an incredible show!
Kooza is yet another fabulous Cirque du Soleil production that is playing in San Francisco right now. I have always wanted to see Cirque du Soleil and now that I finally have, it did not disappoint. In fact, this show was exuberant, entertaining, and memorizing. The only thing I have to compare it to is Teatro Zinzanni, but it is still in a class all its own. And to my delight, there was only one clown and he was a minor part of the show...clowns are scary!
If you get a chance to check this show out, GO. It's great for kids and adults.
Shout out to Metz- thanks for the wonderful time and the thoughtful Christmas gift.
Last night I saw the acclaimed Broadway show, Avenue Q at the Orpheum. I haven't laughed that hard at puppets since the movie Team America World Police from the creators of South Park. In case you were wondering, yes, there was a puppet love making scene and yes, it was rather graphic. I really don't want to divulge too much of the 'plot' but I will say that they candidly cover issues such as racism, homosexuality, porn (on the internet), relationships and so much more.
The show is in SF until September 2nd then on tour across North America through July of 2008. Please get tickets if you can as it will not disappoint.
