I can't believe my baby god-daughter is walking. I know I have a built in bias but she is so cute and has quite the personality to match (says proud god-mommy):
I just heard about Goldstar from a friend...looks very cool and it's FREE. Their site offers half-price tickets to events near you, like theatre, comedy, sports, live music and spas.

The results of today have been long awaited. It is national match day for all medical students; the day they get handed an envelope with the name of a residency program that will be their home for the next few years to come. For some, the news is bittersweet.
The good news is, Lionel matched at his #1 choice UCSF for Orthopedic surgery. There was one spot for the research track (6 years!) and it belongs to him. I know I'm biased but he deserves it. He is brilliant, dedicated and will really have an incredible impact on that field. It's a great day, indeed. Congrats, sweetheart!
Show us a neighbor.
JDC- love this girl. She is my virtual neighbor on VOX but also my next door neighbor in Laurel Heights. I just saw her place for the first time this week. We had a lovely evening as always...punctuated by a lot of wine and a 2 AM departure time.
I am a long standing fan of the magazine, Real Simple. It was the first magazine i ever subscribed to as a teenager and am still going strong more than a decade later. To my surprise this month, Real Simple did a feature on blogs. Within the article they mention a variety of TypePad, MovableType and Vox blogs- how cool!
This is an image of the front cover this month, so go out and get a copy...you'll be hooked (ladies will anyway).
It has been awhile since I've seen something quite this funny. If you haven't seen the Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon, Jimmy Kimmel/Ben Affleck videos, be prepared to have a monumental belly laugh.
Thanks to my adorable aunt, Corinna and I had the fortune of watching the Alvin Ailey ballet last night in Berkeley. It was an incredible show; the costumes were beautiful and exotic looking, which always reminds me of how 'porcelain' I am- i could never wear true orange or yellow, sadly.
This was my first experience at a professional ballet, other than Nutcracker. Modern dance is quite different than traditional ballet. It offers a bit more excitement (it looks like a pretty hard core workout as well). It was impressive to see such beauty and grace instilled in such vigorous movement.
Although Alvin Ailey will only be in Berkeley for another day or two I highly recommend seeing it when it comes to your city.
Alright, Deanna Favre, you win!
I was distraught by the news of Brett Favre's retirement today. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he has played 17 seasons and has more records than any other quarterback in NFL history BUT his best season yet was played last year, so why stop now? I thought for sure that being knocked out one game shy of the SuperBowl would be enough to convince him and everyone else that his time is not yet over. I suppose my assessment is somewhat selfish but I'm just not ready to see him go (unlike Aaron Rodgers who I'm certain did a double back flip when he received the call- you're up kid). Oh well, I'm drafting a new 'favorite' NFL player...any suggestions?
