In a few hours I will be sitting with my two best friends in the world and my goddaughter, laughing and feeling like there truly is no place like home for the holidays.
Aside from the fact that I will freeze my nards off, it will be a great to be home.
Happy Holidays everyone!
I'm officially retiring from holiday parties b/c nothing will top MobiTV's this year (ever!). I have to admit, at first I was skeptical when I received the invite and it was for a Monday night. I know that Mobi throws a great party and Monday events make for incredibly long and painful weeks.
The event was held at the Exploratorium at San Francisco's gorgeous Palace of Fine Arts (aka, my favorite building in the city). The entire place was reserved for our event and it transformed beautifully into an adult Disneyland, if you will.
I'm stalling, but am getting to the good part, I promise.
About an hour in, our esteemed Co-founders and CEO announced that there was a special guest who had traveled all the way from the east coast just for our event. Hmmm, I wonder who it could be...
I guess you're never too old to 'throw your hands up in the air and wave em all around like you just don't care.'
After he played his set, he jumped off the stage and walked directly past Lionel and me. He stopped to shake Lionel's, which quickly followed-up with the proclamation that that particular hand will never again be washed.
So, that was my company Christmas party...word!
Last weekend I traveled back to Seattle for a brief visit. It was extremely cold, which is atypical for early December. I was not at all prepared for the frigid temperatures and even less so for the snow storm that rolled in on Saturday afternoon.
Thanksgiving 2007 was truly one of the best I've ever had. My mom and Aunt Shelley flew into Tahoe from Seattle, little bro drove up from Merced, Jamie, Joe, Corinna, Lionel, myself, and the dogs came from SF and as a surprise, my cousin, Cristina flew in from the UK. I cant' recall a Thanksgiving like that since i was probably 8 years old. Oh yeah, and the food was ridic.
Spending the holiday in Tahoe was just perfect. Earlier that day we went for a mountain hike and witnessed the 'fake snow' being poured all over the Alpine ski resort. All-in-all, it was a truly memorable holiday. Now off to the gym!
MobiTV is 'back in black' (hmm, dejavu) with a new and improved web presence. Looking good, looking good. Props to Jacquie, who did an incredible job from vision to inception to launch...with a little bit of help. Check, check, check it out.
The stores are all decked out in holiday flair which means that it's game-on, aka gift purchasing time. I have more gifts to buy this year than ever before somehow. But before I do that, I figured I deserve a little something from me to me.
JCrew is one of my favorite stores but I rarely justify a big purchase. Since clearly this isn't a winter dress, i got a 'good', well, 'better' deal on it. Now is the hard part...waiting for it to arrive and thusly finding somewhere to wear it until summer rolls around.
I realize that the average football fan could probably care less about tonight's Monday Night game, but I am not an average fan and the San Francisco, Seattle rivalry is alive and well. Yes, the NFC West is by far the weakest division in the NFL, but I have no doubt that tonight will deliver some quality moments.
Seattle is favored by 14 points but because I've been a Seahawks fan long enough, I never hang my hat on predictions. I'm a realist and know that Alexander is performing below average (3.5 yards/carry) and Matt Hassleback is struggling w/out Branch. Having said that, I will be glowing blue and green tonight as I (fingers crossed) celebrate my team's victory on the Monday Night stage.
This video is somewhat cheesy, but it makes me nostalgic:
