I am just about ready to depart for the rest of the week on a mission to spend time with family in Lake Tahoe. Since i am the only one who enjoys dabbling in the kitchen i figure I'll be on chef duty most of the weekend. With recipes like this I'm sure the family won't mind:
6 large tomatoes
2 tablespoons chopped green onions
2 tablespoons chopped basil leaves
6 ounces goat cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 cups cooked orzo
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 cup grated ParmesanPreheat the grill to medium heat.
Cut the tomatoes and core them, removing all the seeds and juice.
In a medium bowl add the onions, basil, and goat cheese. Mix and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add cooked orzo and combine. Stuff the tomatoes with the mixture. Drizzle olive oil over the tomatoes. Top the tomatoes with the Parmesan.
Place the tomatoes directly on the grill with the cover closed and cook for 10 minutes. The juices will begin to run. Remove from grill and place on platter.
I have been going over and over this in my head and just can't figure out why on earth DeAnna dumped Jeremy on the Bachelorette last night.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for all the single gals in America- we have one confirmed good guy! In what bizarre world would Jesse make it to the final two over Jeremy? I really didn't see it coming at all. If i were a betting girl, i would have doubled down on seeing Jason and Jeremy in the finals. Now, i don't even care what happens. OK, maybe I do...such a good show.
I suppose Jeremy just stopped working for it...he thought it was in the bag. She needs guys to be OCD (obsessive compulsive DeAnna) over her.
Any bets on who she will choose???
And by the way- she is a Greek poser. When people 'cheers' in Greece, they lift their glasses and say, 'yamas', not 'opa'. Silly for her to think that someone wouldn't call her out on being a poser.
Talynn is growing up so fast. It breaks my heart that I get to see her so seldom. I know that I am missing out on those key moments like watching her take her first steps, dancing, and starting to exude personality. This is one keeping in touch instance that email or IM can not solve. Tara sent me these pictures of her from last weekend. Honestly, what a doll.
Out of all the festivals in the city, North Beach Festival is by far my favorite. The weather was beautiful and people were in good spirits all around. Lionel was in rare form...as were we all.
Alex and Lionel were actually posing like that while Dee and I laughed with thoughts of how lucky we are.
for Mariah Carey. Well, her music that is. She is an interesting lady, but all the talented ones are (ehem, Whitney Houston). Keep doin your thing girl.
Confession: I have a lot of major events to cover on my blog, such as Lionel's med school graduation, Jacquie's wedding and my trip to the Dominican Republic. My priorities are better than this, I swear BUT i just can't resist mentioning the Sex and the City movie.
I finally saw it last night with Jamie and Corinna (my fam). I have been anticipating this movie since rumors began surfacing about this endeavor three years ago. Thankfully, the movie did not disappoint. In fact, i hung on every scene. It made me fall in love with the characters all over again plus made my urge to move to NYC even stronger. I won't go into details to avoid being a spoiler but I will definitely be seeing it again in the theaters and owning the DVD when it comes out.
I must admit, the day started out a little hairy; traffic was a mess and someone ate my lunch out of the fridge at work (who does that? what an a-hole). But really, how could I have let all that ruin a perfectly good day? The weather is 84 degrees, I'm going on vacation in less than two weeks and to top it all off, Edwards endorsed Obama! The real icing on the cake would be for Hillary to drop out of the race but hey, there is always room for an even better day to come along.
